Marissa gave me a thoroughly detailed day to day meal plan, and trained with me practically every day for 3 months. She motivated me mentally, and pushed me physically, checking in on me daily both as a fitness coach, and as a friend. My name is Velencia Escobedo. I am a 36 year old single mother of a beautiful 10 year old girl, I work 2 jobs and take night classes at a local city college for a degree in Radiology. I have always led a very unhealthy lifestyle filled with negativity, low self esteem, and extremely self conscious. So much so that until my body building show I had never worn a 2 piece bikini anywhere, let alone on a stage in front of hundreds of strangers! When I began this journey I weighed 150 lbs. and was at 36 percent body fat! I am now at an incredibly healthy 125 lbs. and at 20 percent body fat! I can actually wear a size 3 and I’m healthy with beautiful curves! When I met Marissa I was going through a very difficult time emotionally aka: a breakup and COVID-19 had forced everyone to quarantine. So yes I was extremely anxious, depressed and eager to find myself because I knew I did not like the person I had become and I was determined to dig down deep to bring out the real Velencia. Not just for my own sanity but most importantly for my daughter because I wanted to be a positive and healthy role model for her! I met Marissa through a mutual friend and began working out with her via zoom with a group of other ladies. I started with just 1 Saturday a week and I was honestly dreading each Saturday at the beginning because I wasn’t used to working out and being held accountable by my own standards to continue this journey. But days turned into weeks which turned into months and by my 2nd month of working out with Marissa I decided to take the plunge into the bodybuilding world. I loved this new profound energy and zest for more intense exercises. I began to enjoy the transformation my body was taking and was eager to see how far I could actually push myself! Now let me tell you this was in no way shape or form an easy process for me because for so much of my life I always ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted from chips to soda to candy and burgers! But this process helped me become more aware of what I was putting into my own body and how I was doing more bad than good to myself! I learned how to still eat all of those things but to make wiser healthier decisions so I could still eat what l wanted but making sure my macros balanced out. And also drinking water which was also foreign to me because I would drank anything else but water. Valencia E Part 1
Now I crave water more and more even after having my gallon a day! It’s truly amazing when you start paying attention to your body and the end result you are blessed with when doing so! Throughout this incredible experience Marissa has really educated me not only physically but mentally when it comes to achieving the results I wanted based on what I put into my body, food and training wise. I have just competed in my first bodybuilding how ever and I am signing up for a second show in September 2021! Talk about an intense adrenaline rush but so satisfying in every way! Marissa has really helped me improve my life for the better and without her I would’ve never achieved this amazing lifestyle nor would I have this craving to continue to excel and thrive for better! Marissa has not only been there for me as a trainer but most importantly as a therapist, health guru, and above all true friend. There are not enough words to express how truly grateful and indebted I am to Marissa for helping me come out of my shell and discovering who I truly am! I am a strong, fearless, dedicated, driven, disciplined bad ass momma who never gives up! I can not wait to see what my future brings as I continue to train with Marissa and push myself.
